Monday wraps up beat making: a graded loop song, then two short beats — one on the MIDI controller, one on the keys — both quantized.
Unit: Music Reading
From Tuesday you switch from making sound to reading and writing it. You learn the staff, the treble and bass clefs, and how to find any note on a piano keyboard, then note values, rests, and time signatures. From Wednesday you work in MuseScore, where you transcribe Beethoven’s Ode to Joy and then a mystery melody you have to identify by ear after you write it down.

Graded Assignments
- Loop Song (Monday 10/26) — At least five loops, 8–16 measures, exported as an MP3 and uploaded to CTLS.
- Ode to Joy (due Thursday 10/29) — All eight measures in MuseScore, PDF uploaded to CTLS.
- Mystery Transcription (due Friday 10/30) — Transcribed, titled, PDF uploaded to CTLS.
Late work will receive a one-time 20 point deduction.
