Day 7: Intro Music
Tuesday, March 24th, 2026
Read the entire objective, warmup, work session, and closing sections before you start working. This will help you understand the big picture of what we’re doing today.
Mr. Willingham is out today. Work silently and alone the entire period.
You may not finish early. Stay in GarageBand the entire period.
Work Session: Create Your Intro Music
Your intro music is the first thing listeners hear. It sets the tone for your whole podcast. Think about what kind of mood fits your topic.
Your Task
- Browse the loop library — Search for loops that match the mood and energy of your podcast. Try filtering by genre or instrument.
- Layer 2–4 loops — Combine a beat, a bass line, and a melody. Make sure the loops are in the same key and tempo so they sound good together.
- Keep it short — Your intro music should be about 10–20 seconds long. It will play at the beginning of your podcast and fade out as you start talking.
- Add variation — Don’t just start all the loops at the same time. Stagger them so the music builds. Start with one loop and add others as the intro progresses.
Export Your Intro Music
When you’re happy with your intro:
- Click Share → Export Song to Disk.
- Choose MP3 format.
- Save the file to OneDrive so you can import it into GarageBand on recording day.
If OneDrive is not an option, either
- Save the file somewhere on your computer.
or
- Try setting up OneDrive (
command spacebarto open spotlight, then search for OneDrive and follow the prompts to set it up).
Saving to OneDrive is best practice, but it is OK if you can’t figure it out today.
Closing: Next Steps
Tomorrow you’ll share your script with a partner for peer feedback, then revise and finalize it. Your script is due by end of day Wednesday — it must be complete and ready for recording on Thursday.
If you haven’t finished writing your script, use any remaining time today to keep working on it.
