Day 6: Write Your Script
Monday, March 23rd, 2026
Mr. Willingham is out today. Work silently and alone the entire period.
You may not finish early. Stay in Word Online the entire period.
Warmup: Review Script Expectations
Read the script expectations carefully. These are the requirements your final script must meet.
A sample script is also available for you to review. Pay attention to how the sample script is structured and how it incorporates music and sound effect annotations.
Then, open Word Online by logging into Office 365. Start a new document and title it “Podcast Script — [Your Name]”.
Work Session: Write Your Script
You chose your topic on Friday. Now it’s time to write the full script. Your script should include:
Introduction
You already wrote this last week! Copy your chosen intro into your Word document and revise it if needed.
Main Content
This is the body of your podcast. Present your main points in a logical flow. Aim for 2–3 main points that you can cover in detail. Break your text into short, readable lines — remember, this is meant to be read out loud.
Conclusion
Wrap up with a summary or final thoughts. Thank your listeners. Sign off with your podcast name and your name.
Audio Annotations
Include notes in your script for where to add music and sound effects. Use brackets:
[MUSIC: Upbeat intro — fade out after 15 seconds][SFX: Applause sound effect][MUSIC: Outro music — fade in under talking]
Script Length
Your finished podcast should be 3–5 minutes when recorded. Expect your script to be roughly 250–500 words (not counting audio annotations). Remember you’ll have intro music and pauses too.
Tip: Use the Read Aloud feature in Word Online to hear your script. If something sounds awkward, rewrite it. Change the Editor from

Closing: Next Steps
Tomorrow you’ll use GarageBand to create original intro music for your podcast using loops. Bring your creativity — this music will be the first thing your listeners hear.
Your script is due Wednesday. You’ll have time to revise after peer feedback, but the more complete your draft is today, the better.
