Daily Routine

Your instructions are posted on this site every class day. Follow the same routine each time.

Read Everything First

Before you start any work, read the whole page: objectives, warmup, work session, closing. You are looking for three things — what you are turning in, what you need open, and whether you can start the work session on your own or need to wait for Mr. Willingham.

The Order of a Lesson

  1. Objectives — what you should be able to do by the end of class.
  2. Warmup — a short task you can usually start as soon as you sit down.
  3. Work Session — the main activity.
  4. Closing — an exit ticket, a share-out, or a wrap-up.

Each warmup and work session ends with a checkpoint. Use it to confirm you did everything before moving on.

Where Things Live

  • This site — daily instructions, project guides, and reference pages.
  • CTLS (ctlslearn.cobbk12.org) — assignments, uploads, discussion posts, files Mr. Willingham shares, and the lessons on digital learning days.
  • Synergy (StudentVUE / ParentVUE) — grades and due dates.
  • Soundtrap and MuseScore — where the work gets made. See Soundtrap Basics and MuseScore Basics.

What to Bring

  • Your agenda
  • A pencil or pen

Headphones are in the bin. Check the volume before you put them on — the AudioBox gets much louder than you expect.

If You Are Absent

Check CTLS while you are out so you know what you missed, and ask Mr. Willingham about make-up work when you get back. After three days out in a row, make-up work can be requested from the front office.

Missing work is a zero until it is turned in. Late work is accepted with a one-time 20 point deduction. How to turn things in: Turning In Work.

Logging Off

Do this at the end of every period:

  1. Save your project (Soundtrap saves automatically, but check; MuseScore needs cmd + S).
  2. Close your browser tabs.
  3. Log off the Mac — do not just close the lid.
  4. Put your headphones back where you found them.
  5. If you used a microphone or MIDI controller, put it away per the lesson’s tear-down steps.
