Day 36 - Writing Your Podcast Script

Warmup: Review Script Expectations
Read the script expectations to remind yourself of the key elements that should be included in your script. This will help guide your writing process and ensure that you are meeting the requirements for your podcast episode.
Make a final decision on the topic for your show.
Open up Word Online, login to Office 365 to access Word Online. Start a new document and title it “Podcast Script - [Your Name]”. This is where you will write your full script for your podcast episode.

Work Session: Write Your Intro and First Segment - Review and Provide Feedback
Mr. Willingham will discuss the procedures with the class. You will write the intro and first segment of your script. This should include:
- An engaging introduction that hooks the listener.
- A clear statement of the topic and what the episode will cover.
- The first segment of your content, which should be well-organized and informative.
- The first segment should cover the first main point of your episode in detail.

After you have written your intro and first segment, we will discuss editing tools in Word Online. We’ll do all of the following.
- Change the Editor from
Formal WritingtoCasual writingto get suggestions that are more appropriate for podcast scripts. - Fix all suggested spelling and grammar errors to achieve an editor score close to 100.
- Use the
Immersive Readerand theRead Aloudfeature to listen to your script and identify any areas that sound awkward or need improvement. It’s OK that instructions like [Insert Music Here] sound awkward — those are just placeholders.

Now we will share our scripts using the CTLS discussion feature. You will read two peers’ scripts and provide constructive feedback on what is working well and what could be improved. Be specific in your feedback and offer suggestions for how to make the script stronger.
